Eberhard Karls University， Tübingen (German： Eberhard Karls Universit.t Tübingen) is a public research university located in the city of Tübingen， Baden-Württemberg. The University of Tübingen was founded in 1477 by Count Eberhard V (Eberhard im Bart， 1445—1496)， later the first Duke of Württemberg， a civic and ecclesiastic reformer who established the school after becoming absorbed in the Renaissance revival of learning during his travels to Italy. The University got the official name it bears today—Eberhard Karls Universit.t Tübingen—in 1769， when Duke Karl Eugen added his own name to that of the founder. The original four faculties included： Theology， Law， Medicine， Philosophy. It is one of Germany"s most famous and oldest universities， internationally noted in medicine， natural sciences and the humanities. The University of Tübingen is not a campus university， but is spread throughout the town： Tübingen is one of five classical “university towns” in Germany. The other four are Marburg， G.ttingen， Freiburg and Heidelberg. The university is associated with some Nobel laureates， especially in the fields of medicine and chemistry.
System： The university is made up of 14 faculties including： Fac-ulty of Protestant Theology； Faculty of Catholic Theology； Faculty of Law； Faculty of Medicine； Faculty of Humanities； Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences； Faculty of Science.
City show： Tübingen is a traditional university town in central Baden-Württemberg， Germany. Tübingen has a notable arts culture as well as nightlife. Old town landmarks include the City Hall on Market Square and the castle， now part of the University of Tübingen. The cen-tral landmark is the Collegiate Church. Students and tourists also come to the Neckar river in the summer to visit beer gardens or go boating. About one in ten people living in Tübingen is a student.
