The Leipzig University (German: Universit.t Leipzig), located in Leipzig in the Free State of Saxony, Germany, is one of the oldest universities in the world and the second-oldest university (by consecutive years of existence) in Germany. Leipzig University was founded in 1409. It is an interdisciplinary, international comprehensive university. In the course of its diverse history, it grew to encompass a wide selection of disciplines comprising almost all areas of knowledge. World-renowned scientists have taught or studied in Leipzig, and important impulses for the development of thought originated here. The university"s urban campus comprises several locations. All in all, the university is spread across 38 locations in Leipzig. As a university steeped in tradition, the UL has always become stronger when emerging from difficult transitions. The phase after the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 was dominated by a virtually complete restructuring of the humanities and social sciences while the life sciences and natural sciences were adapted to new accents in research and teaching. The fundamental reformation of its structures and courses of study was also combined with the opportunity to promote interdisciplinary collaboration from the onset and take advantage of arising synergies.

System: The original four facilities were Arts, Theology, Medicine, and Law. Today, the university comprises the following 14 faculties: Faculty of Theology; Faculty of Law; Faculty of History, Art and Oriental Studies; Faculty of Philology; Faculty of Education; Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy; Faculty of Economics and Management (including Civil Engineering); Faculty of Sports Science; Faculty of Medicine (with a University Hospital); Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science; Faculty of Biosciences, Pharmacy and Psychology; Faculty of Physics and Earth Science; Faculty of Chemistry and Mineralogy; Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

City show: Leipzig is a city in the federal state of Saxony, Germany. Leipzig is especially well known across the world for its musicality, with a long tradition stretching back to the works of Bach and Mendelssohn Bartholdy in particular. Famous poets such as Lessing, Klopstock, Gottsched or Goethe moved here. Philosophers such as Leibniz, Nietzsche and Bloch influence thinking in the city to this day. The major features of the Leipzig and the University are a state-of-the-art infrastructure with attractive surroundings where everything is just one step away. Its main sights include: St. Thomas Battle of the Nations Monument (one of the largest monuments in Europe, built to commemorate the victorious battle against Napoleonic troops), Old City Hall, New City Hall, etc.
